Downtown Inc. Featured in Orange County Business Journal

Our Client, Downtown Inc., was featured on the front page of this week’s Orange County Business Journal and praised for contributing to the recent Downtown Santa Ana growth by offering workshops through the business improvement district.

Within the article, reporter Kari Hamanaka captured the current and projected shifts in Downtown Santa Ana. Downtown Santa Ana’s new landscape, which began to take shape in 2009, is due in large part to Costa Mesa-based S & A Management LLC, a major property owner who invested $5 million in renovations along 4th Street, the heart of entertainment and retail for Downtown Santa Ana.

“We are close to a critical mass … we’re not at a critical mass,” said Ryan Chase, whose father runs S & A Management LLC. S & A manages about 235,000 square feet of Downtown Santa Ana’s retail and office space. “A critical mass is where someone can come and spend the whole day here and see a concert and get lunch and shop. I think we’re at that point where we’re just about to explode, but there’s a few more things that need to happen.”

The growth in Downtown Santa Ana has increased significantly, as 40 new businesses have opened over the last three years. This recent shift led to a nod from OC Weekly as Orange County’s Best Downtown for what the area is today: a “perfect” mix of both the old and the new.

Downtown Santa Ana tenant, Nydia Paredes, owner of the Princess Bridal and Quinceañera Shop, shares her approval for the new Downtown:

“This is such an amazing time to really be here. I just feel there’s been a boom of something. What that boom is going to explode into, I’m not sure, but it’s an exciting time for all of the merchants down here, and I wish they could all understand that.”
